I am not sure. If it is different enough then it should be okay but if it is too similar then it might not get accepted. Try to submit it and see what the moderators think.

Yes, in my experience, as long as it is your own art work and you are not directly copying parts of the pattern, that should be fine.

I think you can but sometimes they don't let the pattern through if its too similar, but I think inspiration is encouraged.
