A 1212 pattern is a normal pattern that is primarily made of backward-forward and forward-backward knots, such as #53175.

1212 patterns are often reffered to as "fake alphas" because they generally make an image while using the normal pattern technique. They consist of FB and bf knots only, the rythym of knotting them is "12,12", hence the name.
