I thought I remember seeing that people used crochet thread for base strings in alphas. So I bought some, but just wanted to double check if it would work. Thanks! 🙂

Crochet thread will work for the base strings of an alpha just don't use it for the lead string or it will make your bracelet lumpy.

It depends on the size if it is thinner than the normal thread you use double it up.

I try to only use crochet thread for my base strings because I find it makes myself alphas look really good. I use size 3, and it’s a little thicker than regular embroidery floss, but I find it makes it easier to grip into the base strings and it makes your bracelets look bigger and not as stretched out

i’ve gotten #10 artiste brand crochet thread before and it’s worked just liked actual embroidery thread. sometimes you’ll need to make the knots using the crochet thread a little looser to make the knots the same size. i’m actually thinking about switching over to just using crochet thread since it comes in a lot of different colors and you’re getting more for the same price for the single dmc thread. im sure dmc is better quality-wise but im fine with this 🛷📯📮
