Hi, in an alpha you have two different string types: leading strings and base strings.The base strings need to be the length of the bracelet plus some extra for the ties. You only make knots onto them, not with them. The base strings don't have to have the same colour as the background colour. They can have any colour because you don't make any knots with them. Hi! Like mentioned above the base strings should be a bit longer than your bracelet. For the background color I would recommend wrapping your string onto a bobbin and unwinding it as you go. Since the background color is the longest string using a bobbin also helps prevent it from getting tangled. Hope this helps!
