If your folding them in half I usually do my wing span and if your not folding them in half I usually do from the tip of my finger to my chest but if your making a thick bracelet like 20 strings or more it should be a few inches longer |

It varies on the bracelet and the size, but for normal patterns, I would say that a general measurement is about a 30-40 inches, but if you are using a loop at the beginning and folding the string in half, you double that length so it would be about 70-80 inches.

I get a string about the length of my wingspan, sometimes a little shorter or longer depending on the amount of knots that string is doing. Then I fold that in half. I almost always have too much, but I use the excess string for alphas. Hope this helped!

Hi! I personally don't really have a formula to how long I make my string. With normal patterns I usually start with a wing span amount and then I would from there to see if I need it to be longer or shorter . I usually make it longer if I'm making twisted ties to both ends of a bracelet. It also depends for me how thick the pattern is. If the pattern is really thick I usually cut my string longer.

When it comes to Alpha's on the other hand I usually cut my base strings not too long, usually half a wing span (depends on the alpha though). With the working string though it's a little iffy, sometimes you might only need a little or you might need a lot. You can usually tell though by looking at how many knots of a certain color there is in the pattern. I hope this helps!
