Hey! so does anyone know how to do the flat alpha technique while doing the upside down alpha technique? If that makes. I tried doing it but it didn’t turn out right. Could someone respond to this please? Thank you!!!

This is a really interesting question! I have not tried to figure out how it's done so far but I'll try to later. My feeling tells me that it's probably not possible. 🙁

I don't think it is possible, and even if it was, I would probably not use it. This is because upside down alphas usually turn out pretty flat, due to the way you knot them. It might work though, I have never tried it. I hope this helped!

Hi, I've found something that helps you not having gaps when you make colour switches. But I don't think it's flat (or at least I would have to test and practice further to say for sure). So maybe "flat alpha" would not be an appropriate term but it has the other advantage of the flat alpha technique which is avoiding gaps/disconnected parts. The first half of the knot where you switch colour is done normally. Then you take the old leading string and put it under the base string but over the new leading string. It's best to pull the old leading string horizontally to the side. When you make the second half of the knot the old leading string is now sandwiched between the base string and the new leading string. |
