I'm just starting out alpha bracelets and I was curious as to how much base string I would need for each pattern? I figure that it depends on the pattern and its dimensions or something...? But the dimensions don't have units, so I am a little lost :/.

I usually just tie the entire spool/ thing of the base string when I tie them together...wait, that's background string... I usually pull it out of my string ball twice ( about a foot)

I usually end up using a whole bobbin of string for the base string.
