mysterious base string

So I’m working on a keychain and this happened twice.. I’ll be knotting and there seems to be a base string that came out of nowhere in the back of my bracelet. I count my base strings (not including the mysterious one) and I still have 19 (the amount I should have) This happened twice does anyone know why |

maybe you didnt cut off the end of the leading string and will start knotting on that end or you have colour switched but confused an old leading string for a base string

maybe you just mixed up your leading strings and base strings, try to keep your strings straight and organized to preventt his from happening

Ugh, ive done that so many times. You probably using the leading string tail or a color switch color tail.
