So, i am going to start working on a new normal pattern. However, i don't know how long i want to string to be. Could anyone help me figure this out?

I always use wingspan as a measurement. If there is one thread of a particular color, it is half your wingspan (center of your chest to your finger tips), if there is two you can use your full wingspan and fold it in half (finger tips to finger tips when in a “T” position with your arms). When I’m doubt I always go a little longer than I think I need, because you can always cut off extra and use the scraps, but it’s hard to add more to a normal pattern. I hope this makes sense and helps!

If you cut your strings too short it’s ok! Masha Knots has a brilliant video on how to switch colours/threads when you run out:
