Use the straight edge technique so forward backward knots on the right edge and backward forward knots on the left edge.

there are tutorials on alphas in the tutorial section too. To flatten out your bracelets use a flat iron, use the flat alpha technique to prevent your bracelet from being bumpy and use a ruler to also straighten the rows out themselves

by flat iron i mean a hair straightener it helps with flatenning your bracelet so it doesnt curl up and my flat iron is automatically at 410 i think

masha knots has a flat alpha tutorial on her youtube channel. it basically explains everything you need to know about alphas. there are also other tutorials on the internet but i like hers the best because it explains everything a beginner (or even someone advanced) would need to know.

Don’t do the flat alpha technique if you are color switching right before the last knot of the row. Instead put the color you JUST knotted with back and bring forward the new color and knot with it. (I hope that make sense)

what @kman was saying, was if there's a color switch on the edge of your bracelet, I usually color switch 1 knot before that way it is tight and wont fall out. If you don't want to do that, I sometimes come from behind with the new string and just knot it, if you don't come from behind, you will have string sticking out from the top of your bracelet just fyi.

i like take a ruler and kinda of push the row of alpha knots straight when i’m making something if that makes sense, it helps me keep my rows straight

Try not to use different string brands when making alphas. Sometimes different brands make their strings different thicknesses and this can warp your bracelet

If you’re starting your alpha with a double triangle loop and there are a lot of color changes in the first row, I recommend making a few rows of an outline color. This way when you go in to switch colors there’s already a foundation of knots that will help the bracelet keep its shape. I’m not sure if I explained it correctly or not, but I did this for pattern #46958 if you want a visual for it. I think this is a good tip if you’re new to color switching or aren’t confortable with your skill yet
