It is necessary to change the direction if Im going to change the color of my thread?. Like if my background is forward knot. So the other color will be backward knot? Im just confused. Thank you

are you talking about switching colors by knotting on the base strings and then changing the color by tying the base strings onto the leading string?

in that case, yes. but there are other ways of changing string colors (or just adding new string) to alpha bracelets.
when you've reached the string in the row that you're supposed to make the color switch at you can do it two ways, the classic way and the flat alpha technique.

with the classic way you simply take a piece of string (however long you need it) and attach it to the surface that you're working on, near the base string that you're going to knot onto. then, you take the leading string and bring it from the front of the bracelet to the back where (between your base string that you're going to switch the colors on to and its current place). you then take the new color and simply continue knotting with it like it was the leading string all along.

with the flat alpha technique you take the string of the color that you want to change to and knot the first half of a knot onto the base string, then take the previous leading string and put it over the base string that you're changing the color onto (that you're currently knotting on) and proceed to knot the second half of a knot onto the base string (while the previous leading string is sandwiched in the middle of it). lastly you take the previous leading string and take it to the back of the bracelet and continue to knot normally with the new leading string.

if you want a video you can look up Masha knots' video on the flat alpha technique and that should help you more.

im a little confused by the question lol, but no, you don’t need to change the direction of the knot. if you’re talking about adding a new string in, you’ll tie the new string onto the base string, and then just continue with the direction the knot is going. if you’re just talking about color switches in general, then it’s still no, you’ll continue knotting in the same direction as you were going. it’s also still the same even if you’re using the flat alpha technique. i hope this helped! 🍒🛹🧃

@jadeflwr13

they are referring to quite an old technique of tying alpha bracelets that was typically used to make to 2 colored alphas.
