Kay12 Bracelet King	4 years, 2 months ago by Kay12 hi. i was also wondering how to work the font generator when making an alpha i usually go to google fonts, choose the font and press the button that says 'download family' then, after i insert the file, it says that the file is unsupported

halokiwi Moderator	4 years, 2 months ago by halokiwi I've not made an alpha from a font yet but I've made some from images. Many of you are saying that it's not turning out how you want. Whenever you create an alpha from an image - and I assume this goes for an alpha from font too - you'll need to tweak it a little. 😄

halokiwi Moderator	4 years, 2 months ago by halokiwi I just tried it and it worked well for me. I downloaded a font from DaFont. Because it's a zip file you need to unpack it. Then you select the true type font file to create an alpha from. Like I suspected you need to tweak the pattern the same way you would need to for an alpha pattern created from an image, @Kay12 this might also be helpful for you 😄

halokiwi Moderator	4 years, 2 months ago by halokiwi @Kay12 what exactly isn't working? I always thought it was super complicated until I tried it but it's really just - download a font - unpack it if it's a zip or rar folder - select the font file from the unpacked folder - tweak the pattern You need to tweak the pattern because it won't be perfect. To do that you just open the pattern in "draw alpha" and draw what you want to change. You also might want to play around with the size of the pattern if it doesn't look right yet. I think this might not be working on a phone because you might be missing the tools to unpack the folders. So if you haven't tried it at a computer I recommend trying that. Please don't give up 😄
Kay12 Bracelet King	4 years, 2 months ago by Kay12 @halokiwi I'm doing it on a laptop and here are the exact steps i follow: 1. go to Google fonts or Dafont 2. select a font out of the first couple of options on the page 3.i download the font and i am able to find it in the file explorer 4. come back to Braceletbook and go to alpha from font 5. click on "choose file" and I insert it there 6. i choose the dimensions 7. click on "save and test and in the end, the outcome is "some values of the form are missing, or have failed validation" and "unsupported font file type" should i try to make the font on another device?
halokiwi Moderator	4 years, 2 months ago by halokiwi @Kay12 you seem to be missing the step where you unpack the zip file. When you download from DaFont you'll end up with a zip file. Google fonts also gives you a zip file. The folder in the file explorer looks like it has a zipper on it. You right click on the folder and select "extract all". After you extracted all you are able to use the true type font file that you extracted to create a pattern from.
