What's the right kind of thread to be used for making bracelets? What kind of thread makes the bracelet thicker? Is mercerized cotton or crochet cotton okay for making these?

Usually people use embroidery thread. I've never tried it with cotton but I don't see why it wouldn't work.. Just make sure all the different colours you use are the same type and thickness and it should be fine (I do recommend embroidery thread though)

I use embroidery floss. If you want to make the bracelet thicker just double up the strands. So for example you would use two strinfs to tie the know versus one. I hope that makes sense

I use mouline thread (it is embroidery thread). Also I tried to make braslets from woolen thread.

I have tried a variety of things and really if you're determined any kind of string will work. I have used Cotton wool, embroidery floss, plastic lace, hemp, fishing line..... You can use basically anything but I personally prefer the look of embroidery floss. However I see a lot of nice bracelets done with slightly thicker waxed thread which look very sturdy

I usually use embroidery floss, but I've also used yarn. The rule of thumb for yarn is that the piece will be twice the size of the same piece done with embroidery floss. It's nice if you want to make a large pattern quickly, and it makes small patterns (about 8 strings or fewer) more substantial. Some very small patterns that would be a bit unattractive with embroidery floss look very nice with yarn.

I use embroidery floss but I split it in half so that each string is 3 strands instead of 6

I might be the only person who does this, but I like to use yarn. I used to make bracelets with embroidery floss, but I always found the finishing product to be too small or flimsy in a way. For me, bracelets made with yarn tend to hold together very nicely, and are pretty much perfect for my taste.
