Alpha pattern dimensions?

I'm designing an alpha pattern and trying to figure out how long I should make it (the pattern/bracelet, not the strings). I saw a couple other patterns were 80–90 strings long but I think the last bracelet I made was somewhere in the 50s. (That was a normal one, though, not alpha; perhaps there's a difference?) Anyway, I was hoping someone could measure one of their alpha bracelets and tell me about how many rows are in an inch (or a centimeter) so I can try to calculate this for myself. Pretty please?

Yeah, around 80 to 90 is a good amount of rows 😄

Okay! Do you by any chance know about how many rows fit in an inch or a centimeter?

About 5 rows fit in a centimeter, and about 7-8 fit in an inch

Okay thank you!!! I think I'm probably still going to go with 60ish rows since the loop I have at the end adds almost three centimeters

Oof sorry one more question—is that 5 rows/cm measurement about the same for the width of an alpha pattern? (The only physical bracelet I can use for reference right now is a normal pattern, and I think the knots in it might be longer than they are wide.) I'm wondering approximately how wide an alpha with 8 base strings would be, if anyone knows that?

Sorry—boosting this to hopefully get an answer to my final question! ^^^

as long as you’re making the knots the same size, i think it would still measure the same. i measured out an alpha that i made with 10 base strings, and it came out to 1 cm, so maybe 8 mm for 8 base strings? 🍁🕸🌙
