Straight edges on normal patterns just come from practice for me. Practicing with chevrons and candy stripes are always good options. On alphas, try doing forward-backward (and vice versa) on edges. This will create a straight edge with practice. I hope this helps!

@breeze1010 you can also use the straight edges technique on normal bracelets (making bf knots on the left and fb knots on the right). For most patterns you'll need to add an extra string on either side for it to work. Doing the straight edges technique will make the edges look more smooth. But I agree that you can make straight bracelets without specifically doing the straight edges technique.
