Normal patterns basically are the rhombus shaped ones and alpha patterns are the square shaped ones.Alphas are knotted row by row. You have base strings and a leading string. With the leading string you knot row by row onto the base strings. Normals can also be knotted row by row but they have a different knotting structure. Usually it's better to segment knot nomal patterns which basically means you knot in diagonals as often as possible. If you want a good intro to both bracelet types I recommend watching MashaKnots on YouTube. |

Like halokiwi said, alphas are the more square/rectangular ones and normal patterns are the more rounded ones. Personally, I think normals are easier but more time consuming (some may disagree). Each pattern is also labeled in the top corner. Alphas are knotted row by row where as normal patterns are the ones where you don't include strings and such.
