I've made a few alpha keychain loops with odd base strings but how do I make one with even base strings? is it possible? a tutorial or a video would be appreciated

You can find a tutorial on Masha Knot's youtube channel, her loop tutorial will help for sure 🙂

@Lil_turtle I watched both alex innovation's tutorial and mashaknot's tutorial on alpha loops but they both say you need an odd number of strings, I was wondering if there was a video I could follow that had even strings

maybe try adding a base string at the end and just cut it off the top part! maybe that'll work

I assume you mean an even number of base strings.. plus one leading string, making an odd loop. the easiest thing to do would be make your loop first, with all of your base strings, then tie on your leading string. it is a lot easier to do it this way, without threading your base string through the loop, but I think its better to thread it through.

first, obviously, you need to make an odd loop. just for sake of example, I will explain this for a bracelet with 20 base strings. you would need to cut 9 base strings (long enough to be folded in half for a loop) and one string approximately half that length, as well as your leading string. this would give you 20 base strings: 18 from the 9 you fold in half, one from the end of your leading string that you fold in half, and one from the odd string. to make the loop, secure the 9 strings and your leading string how you would normally make your loop. with the odd string, secure it right above where you are about to start knotting the loop. then, make your loop. there should now be 20 strings coming from the loop (not including your leading string), as well as a little tail from the odd string that you threaded through. to get rid of this tail, find the end of that string, and pull until the tail is inside the loop. this will leave you with a clean loop with 21 strings total, including your leading string.

after you have the loop, you can just make the triangle ends and start your bracelet. obviously one of the sides has one more string than the other, but you can still make the traingle ends basically the same way as with an even loop. there is a technique of making the triangle ends completely even, but I wont go into detail on that.

hope this helps. let me know if there is anything thats unclear about this or if you want me to explain something in further detail. if you want me to explain it with the number of base strings you are using, I can do that. also, if you wanna know that other way of making the triangle ends, I'm totally willing to write that out too. if you need any more help with anything, feel free to message me here, tag me in a post, or message me on instagram: madeto_inspire__

lol, I just reread your forum post, and that explanation is for something totally different. to make a keychain with an odd number of base strings, just attach all of your base strings as normal, using a half hitch knot. for the last string thats attached, use the outermost string as your leading string. for example, if I needed 9 base strings, I would attach 5 strings, making 10, and use the last one as my leading string. hope this helps.
