How long should my base strings be?

I want to make a 10x26 pattern but I'm not sure how long my base strings should be.

Excluding the ties, you could make the base strings around 10 cm in length 😊

If it’s a keychain, I’d say around 10 cm should be enough. For bracelets I tend to use half a wingspan 😊

If it's a keychain I would do about 5 inches which is about 12cm for the base strings.If your making a bracelet or a anklet I would suggest using about 12 inches of 29 cm so you can add ties. |

I actually find it really hard to knot with short base strings so that is a really small pattern and if you want to do a keychain I’d say like maybe 8-10 inches
