hi i saw masha knots buy a brand of yarn to use as thread, but when i looked up the brand it looks really thick! is there a specific type i should buy or is it already thin? thx

I prefer Aunt Lydia's crochet thread Size 3. It is great for alpha base strings.

In most of her videos I have seen Masha use either Alize, Kamtex or Gamma yarn (there could be others). There are varieties among these yarns as well. I would suggest going to the websites of these yarns and checking out the varieties and their details. I personally have never tried these but they do seem to be of great quality.
Whichever yarn you buy though make sure its the same thickness.
As for what you should buy, its entirely up to your preference. Thicker thread or yarn will give bigger knots and vice versa. I think yarn is a little easier to work with in my experience but it could be different for different people. Embroidery floss is pretty great as well and it is easily available for the most part.

3ply or 8ply sized yarn works perfectly!
