so I'm getting ready to organize my threads (right now they are all in one big bag, so I have to untangle lots) and I am planning to wind the thread onto bobbins, and put it into a thread organizer box, but I am unsure how many bobbins and boxes to buy, if you guys have your threads organized like this, then how many did you buy?

I have a weird system of organizing my thread, so I only have about half of my thread on bobbins. At first, I got a pack of 100 bobbins, but after a couple months my thread collection grew more so I bought another pack of 100. I only have one box full of bobbins, but if I were to put all of my threads on bobbins I would probably need two boxes. My advice to you is to start organizing up your thread with the bobbins and boxes you have now, and if you run out, order more 🙂

I have one box and I used about 50 bobbins, but what I would recommend is to only make one bobbin for each color/shade. For example, if you have 5 skeins of light pink, only put one skein on the bobbin. If you run out, get the same color/shade and rewrap the bobbin. You can store the rest of your strings in a box or bag.

hi, so i have 1 box and i used about 6 full bobbins per 1 square. I organized mine by the rainbow (so red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, then the other colors white, grey, black, and multi colored ) and by what kind of thread they are half the box is embroidery floss other half craft cord. ❤️ 🙂

hope this helps

i would recommend buying a big pack of like 300 on amazon. if you don't already have containers they have good bead/storage organizers at Micheal's that work well for thread.

I needed 2 boxes for 150 threads and bobbins (5 per section). I also have a third box for random other threads that are weird colors and stuff bc the others are color coordinated.

I bought a organizer box and it came with 150 bobbins.I winded them with a drill, and it saved a bunch of time. I had to wind 500 skeins, but only did the main colors (red orange, etc.) Some of the weird colors I have, I keep in another box. I have many thread organizers, the main colors, the scraps, the weird colors, and others. Whatever works for you, but Its super easy to pick out colors if they are in an organizer box!
