The same thread for your normal patterns will work good

Either embroidery floss or yarn is good. Not sure about wax though😊 |

I just started using craft cord instead of embroidery floss for my alphas and I love it, you can use either, but embroidery makes the knots less square and stretches out the pattern a bit.

I think any string is good for alphas, but make sure you use the same thickness of each string in the same bracelet. Like don't use strings of different thicknesses in your bracelets or else they will not come out flat.

For base strings crochet thread but for leading string embroidery floss! Some good embroidery floss brands are DMC, Loops and Thread etc . you could buy them in craft stores

loops and threads brand from Michaels craft store is my personal favorite and a tip is to try and use the same brand for the whole bracelet because it keeps it even because all of the strings are the same size!

Embroidery thread is the best but you can use thin yarn, Crochet thread, craft string, and many other things too

@apples123 for alphas it is best to try to use strings of the same thickness because this will help to make your alphas straighter and more even. I usually use embroidery floss from amazon for my alphas because it is cheaper then my dmc thread that I use for my normal bracelets.

If you intend to use techniques like the clean back alpha or flat alpha, I’ve found those to be easier to do cleanly with embroidery floss over ‘more solid’ strings like crochet yarn or craft chord. If you’re knotting them the traditional way, then any string is fine.

@apples123 if you want a neat look I would suggest you use the thread of the same thickness!
