hi guys i was just wondering how do you switch colors at the edge of an alpha, like what do you do with the old color? i watched masha's flat alpha technique video and i understand how to switch colors in general and i can make alphas but this thing just bothers me please helpp

Let's say you have a black leading string and you want to switch to white at the edge. You take the white string, cross it over the black string so the black string is under the white string, and then you make your white knot on the edge string.
Same thing if you want to switch back to the black right after the white at the edge string
