When doing an alpha patterns at the ends you have to cut the unwanted strings but do you need to burn the tip of those in the bracelets or we can just cut or the bracelet will began to undo itself?

you don't need to burn the the ends because that could ruin your whole bracelet/keychain. if you cut it close to the end it shouldn't unwind. i have never had a problem with that. if you are worried about it coming undone you could always get some clear nailpolish and put it on the ends where you cut off the string. hope this helps!

How can I start a smaller (6-10 strings) bracelet without doing an overhand knot? I really don’t like how they look

Has anyone noticed a difference in the results with diagonal-knotting a (right-side up) chevron versus an upside down one? Seems the latter one stretches the pattern abit particularly with diamond to a shape of a rhombus. Or am I the only one with this problem.? I can't seem to get my diamonds-shape to look like one, always end up with a rhombus-shaped one. Thanks,

@meadowfoam sorry this is so late but you can start and do triangle ends if you’d like. you can also do a knotted loop even though it may be a bit smaller

@meadowfoam I recommend triangle ends. Masha Knots has some really good YouTube videos on how to make them

Hi Anonte2, sorry didn't mean to confuse you. Let me clarify the problem(s) I'm having.

I'm trying to learn how to "segment knot" but had difficulty in doing it via different segments (chunk to the right or chunk to the left) so I ended up "knotting diagonally" from the pattern as a form of segment-knotting.

So by knotting diagonally, I'm knotting either a chevron (V shape) but can't get the hang of it. [ Like where did I start or left off at? for example] So I ended up knotting the entire chevron upside-down (or ^ shape).

Then I noticed the end-results between the 2 routes are different. The latter result (upside down chevron) stretches whatever diamond shape to that of a rhombus shape so the pattern is warped. Whereas teh regular-chevron looked a tad better but can't seem to get the hang of (weird, I know).

So my question is has anyone notice this? And if so, is there anyway I can fix or remedy my upside-down chevron knotting so a diamond look like a diamond on the pattern.

Hope this clarifies my problem abit, thanks again.

Anonte2, using your avatar picture as an example. Instead of having decent "diamonds" on the bracelet, I get a stretched one - rhombus-shapes so obviously the pattern is skewed. {And I haven't gotten into getting "holes" yet] no matter how tightly I knot.

@TheBeaver okay i know what you are talking about. i think this is because in the pattern if you knot in a v shape, you are using some of the strings multiple times in a row. if that makes sense. when you segment knot you are doing it in different areas so it isn’t all together. i hope this makes sense i tried to worry it properly

@margaria25 i do not know. it should be okay to you would just only used that thread and not a different kind. sorry if it doesn’t make sense

@anonte2, yes you make a good point that the strings are being "forced/pulled/stretched" in a certain direction with the diagonal-knotting.

But do you have a tip for easier "organized" segment knotting in chunks? I mean I've tried to segment-knot in chunks, a chunk from the right, then a chunk from the left and then I get lost ... maybe I need to print off the pattern and number the chunks and mark them off as I go along? That's very old-school (not that I'm of new school btw). ... I'm sure the pros here has the best tips. Thanks,

@TheBeaver what I do is I will usually print the pattern out on a piece of paper and I'll follow it from there. If I think I am going to get lost on where I am at a certain point I will mark it off on that paper. If you do it through your computer pr website, you can zoom in on the section that you will be knotting so you can see it closer. I hope this helps and sorry if it doesn't

@mahriyajl you can either do this in the app or from the website but the app is preferred.

@mahritajl sorry i accidentally sent it before i was done typing! in the app you can hit the plus button on the pattern number. you then hit upload photo and you can do it through there. if you are on a computer you have to upload the photo to your computer and then do the same steps as above. hope this helps!
