Use social media to your advantage, establish that there is a clear link between your personal account and your store account. Tell your friends/subscribers/followers to checkout your other account. Discounts, giveaways and contests generate a lot of followers for an account that's just starting. Get your close friends to re-tweet, re-post and spread the word to their followers whenever you have anything going on in your 'shop'. Price is up in the air, as there isn't really any way to definitely price any handmade item. I would first target the audience you're trying to sell to. Are you leaning towards adults or teenagers or children? adjust your prices accordingly. You can charge more if you're targeting adults- they have jobs, you can charge mid-range if you're targeting teens, mum and dad don't mind shelling five bucks or so every once in a while, and some of them have jobs. As for Children, they're less likely to get the five bucks, you're looking at more likely the two dollars they got for their tooth last week. That being said, it all depends on you, if you make bracelets and sell them because you don't have enough people to give them to or you don't know what to do with them, you're making supplies back selling to children at like $2.00 a pop. If you're looking for a little more than supplies back so you can hit up the school vending machine at lunch, you can get yourself a little treat at $5.00. If you're looking at it for profit & supplies you're looking at your adult audience and the prices range drastically. |
