Today I went to Michael's and bought the Prism Tie-Dye Pack and Aunt Lydia's Classic 10 in the blue and purple color changing and sparkly gold. Has anyone used these before in alpha backgrounds? Any photos you might know of using these threads? Is classic 10 crochet thread too thick?I'm not new, just have a burning question about these before I use them. 😅 |

yes! they look as thin as normal embroidery thread right? I use crochet thread from summer nights all of the time and its amazing. just make sure its around the same size its pretty much noticeable if they are close in size or not. Im pretty sure i use size 10 but based on the aunt lydias threads i have used in the past im pretty sure it should work anyways as long as the leading strings as always the same size you will have no problems im sure. message me with any other problems if you need to! have a great day/night

I would say that aunt lydia's metallic thread is a bit too thin to use in alpha backgrounds, you can't double it b/c then it would be too thick. Fashion 3 is also too thick for the background string in alpha but can be used as the base strings. You can you the metallic thread though, for some reason the metallic thread produces the same knots as embroidery floss.

I use metallic 10, and I find it works well as a backround thread (the Aunt Lydias sparkly one)...

Am I able to use craft cord from Michael's with regular embroidery floss bc I went to Michael's to get the variegated and realized it was craft cord. Will the knots work the same?

@Addysen I think they will as long as they are the same size or around the same size

if it’s too thin then it may not be a good fit. your strings should normally be the same thickness because otherwise the knots could turn out weirdly 💫📀🥀
