Hi I'm a newbie and I've always been wondering what length of string I have to use for both alpha and normal. Thanks in advance🙂))

For string length, it all depends on the wrist size of someone, the kind of pattern (alpha vs normal), how large the bracelet is (how many strings), and what patterns (in some patterns, some strings get used up and shorter much faster than the other strings in the pattern). So honestly, it varies from person to person and pattern to pattern, so there isn't really a set length the string needs to be.

If you're willing to do the math, there is an actual formula I made in the community or other thread I believe (I can't remember which anymore!)

The formula that Margaron posted is in the 'other' category and the name of the forum is 'Normal pattern formula to find the perfect string length'. The formula is kinda complicated, but if you want the perfect string length, it works 🙂

I've got a question sort of relating to the length of normal patterns. Most patterns on this site on the knotting graph have the top strings' location match up with the bottom strings. Some don't and stop after a few rows. How do you know how to finish those patterns? An example of what I'm talking about would be # 14527. I really want to make this, but the strings' locations are different. Thanks sooooooooooo... much!!!! 🙂

@Fliparz after you've completed the section and yr @ the bottom, just restart from the beginning. Even tho the colours are different, you still follow the same pattern. So the first bottom string would become the first top string, even if they are different colours. I know it's kinda confusing. I hope this made sense!!
