Hi, this might come to a surprise that I don't know how to do it ever since I started a year ago I always go ahead and look up how to do them but I never seem to understand how adding the string at the sides of a bracelet will not add a knot to the bracelet making it look a bit wonky if you understand. I have seen Masha do it (Masha Knots on youtube) do a tutorial on it but I didn't really get it cause she really didn't demonstrate it to let me know how it would look or how it would be seen on a bracelet. and when I am talking about a type of bracelet I am talking about normal patterns that don't have just one color down the side like a border. if anyone could help me it would be super great and thank you for helping me and a wonderful day Keep Knotting!! ❤️

The straight edges technique will add a knot, but the added string will not be shown in the bracelet. For the rows that have less knots, you would add a fb or bf knot on each end.

The straight edges technique for normal bracelet will add an extra knot into the bracelet, but the extra string you add won’t ever make knots on other strings therefore it won’t be seen. Basically, in some of the rows of a normal pattern there are strings on the edge that don’t pair with other strings and don’t make knots in that row. Any time you come across one of those strings, you take it and make a knot with it onto your extra string that you added for the technique. Hopefully this helps a little.
