look at the number of strings, one of them is the first color and the rest are the number of strings. for example, an alpha pattern says 19 strings, u would subtract one from that to get 18, so u cut the string to the length of the bracelet with 4-5 inches on both sides for the ends of it. so I cut my alpha bracelet base strings about a foot long. once u cut ur 18 strings for example, u tape them down on a flat surface, but put the tape about 4 or 5 inches from the top. and get started! let me know if I need to clear anything up or explain more! 🙂
