yes, you do have to be very careful when using this technique.

that works, but you might have to make a few extra rows before you do that to prevent the leading string from stretching in between the knots

you can also pull out the "dowel" string and then pull the leading strings tight, but you need to do it before you make the whole.

So clear and helpful and my bookmark came out great!
Just one clarification - all base, scrap, amd leading strings should be the same colour.

periodically make sure the string is pulled tight and use really really strong tape. i literally used duct tape. hope this helps!

no matter what i do and how tight the string i put my bases on, its always bent inward and ends up as a loose U at the top lol. what should i try?

Omg I wish I had this tutorial when I tried to make a bookmark start! I just freehaded it and prayed for the best 😭 😭 it turned out alright tho
