OK I've just discovered something MAJOR (probably not as the first person in history, but still 😄). The flipped knotting actually makes upside down alphas a breeze!!! Because you do the looping the way you're used to (just with the base string and in the opposite direction than you want the leading string to go), then you simply flip the knot, and then it's just how you pull the knot tight that you have to mind! 😲 I owe you big, @Samanada ! 👍 👍 👍
@janelane8 Pretty much! You want the "right" side of the knot to be the one showing, but to do that, you have to start with the "wrong" side, and then do the flip thing you mentioned. Please let me know if you need me to clarify anything else!
In the flipped knot technique, are you basically trying to force the accidental flipped knot that sometimes happens when you knot too tightly? It's hard to tell what to do from the pictures tbh.
I can never get the twisted square knot to be the exact same size/length. After a few knots you gotta turn it around otherwise you just can't make any more knots, they're angling towards the back, but after that it's hard to tell how many knots to make to achieve the spiral identical to the one you made before you turned the entire bracelet around, if that makes sense.
I will definitely give the flipped knot a try, thank you; I have given up knotting alphas with the leading string on the bobbin, I hate how uncomfortable that feels!
