To make the strings match, you just need to repeat your current knotting structure until the strings are in the original order again. You can do this by copying the knotting structure and pasting it under the knotting structure. @Bryn14
How can I match the colors that are the same on both sides, top and bottom and whenever I try and go match it, it always suddenly change up the order that I have and then the whole pattern will then suddenly turn into a big blob of mess.
@Bryn14 what helps with designing normal patterns are mainly two things: - understanding how normal patterns work: What works? What doesn't work? How can you achieve a certain result? - having a clear idea what you want to do
To understand the mechanics of normal patterns I recommend playing around with the interactive generator and just look what happens when you do certain things. What can be helpful to experiment with is to copy the knotting structure of a simple pattern like an arrowhead, chevron or diamond pattern and then just changing some of the knots to see what happens. It can also be a great source for inspiration.
To have a clear image what you want to do you can sketch your pattern out on graph paper before trying to put it into the generator.
how can people make such good normal patterns because I always have trouble making patterns that will actually look nice and mine are kind of on the bad side and there's always warnings that I get.
Is there a reason the tag "x" doesn't work? I've searched it to look for patterns with an x in the patterns and nothing comes up even though some of the patterns in my to-do are tagged "x". Is it because it's just 1 character?
You might have noticed but we now require at least 5 keywords and you can't submit a pattern unless you have at least 5 keywords. At least 10 keywords are recommended to make the pattern easier to find but a pattern won't get declined for having less than 10 keywords.
The recognition of too similar or too dark colours has now also changed a bit. You are now unable to submit patterns with pure black. The recognition of colours that are too similar should work better now.

@Caitella the pattern can still be declined for various reasons. I recommend checking out the review guidelines for a list of patterns we no longer accept. But in general the chances of your pattern getting accepted are a lot higher. 😄
