yess! "y" is 15 knots high, so you'll need a minimum of 17. but you can add more for a thicker border (if you prefer not using an odd number of strings).
i totally forgot to check how high "y" was, so you can see i'm the kind of person who cuts strings too short and only realizes it too late lol 😂.
@8_bit_life, your number of base strings must be the height of the highest letter in the word you're making, plus 2 (those are going to be the "border").
so, if the name you're making is bethany, you should need 14 strings (because "b" is the highest letter of your word, with 12 knots high).
14 base strings are enough for her name and the flower... but the leaves are a bit bigger/higher, and that's why you'd need 16 base strings ('cause they're 14 knots high) in case you want to use them.

p.s.: and make sure you don't cut the strings too short, count how many rows you'll need for the full name and the daisies (or the leaves). i think it would be around 75 rows, but it totally depends on what you're willing to make. 😊
