@manuosv I'm not quite sure how to quantify this for you, but I'll try!
I used 6-strand embroidery floss. The background strings I used were not doubled, meaning I tied onto one string at a time instead of tieing onto two at a time, so my first version wasn't very square, but it cut down on string usage. I would recommend tieing onto doubled background strings, (which means you'd have 200 of them for this project) as I've found it to be much more stable for alpha patterns, but if this is your first alpha pattern it may be a bit much, and single background strings do work just fine 🙂
Overall I used at least two skeins each of white, black, yellow, and green, and about one skein each of orange, dark orange, tan, and brown. You won't need much pink and dark brown at all, but if you are trying to estimate how much string to buy for this project, you may need as little as 14 skeins, though including buying background strings it could go up to 20 easily, depending on what color you will use for it.
Each standard skein of 6-strand floss is 8 meters, or 8.7 yards long. That means it took between ~122 and 174 yards worth of string, as a rough estimate. If you use thicker or thinner string the total will vary considerably👍
@manuosv, I can't remember specifics because its been a while since I made it, but I can estimate. I think I used about 10-12 skeins of thread for the base strings, 1-2 skeins for the yellow and green, and a skein or less for all the other colors. I hope this helps!
@funnyfun it took me 2weeks and 2. Days. I spent 6hrs on it per day and in total it took me 96hrs straight I mean the product is SO WORTH IT but one thing that I wouldn’t do is look at the entire thing and worry about the progress cause if I did that I felt overwhelmed 😅 so honestly YES YOU SHOULD MAKE ITT just be ready for a long ride cause I ended up restarting the whole thing cause I missed counted the nave strings after 10HRS OF WORK🥲so as a little reminder before u start it’s 100 nave string not 93 but if u do I wanna see the product 🤩
