@alexmw Sorry I forgot to tag you... I make the first knot in the row like 1/4 inch away from the previous row then I try to keep the other knots in that row as close to that first knot as possible. When I've finished the row, I take my nail and pull down the knots and adjust them so that they look nice. I will be making a video tutorial on this pattern this weekend.
