@xserenabx the arrows are different kinds of knots. The arrow to the right is a forward knot and the arrow to the left is a backward knot. MashaKnots on YouTube has some really good tutorials on YouTube in which she explains how to read friendship bracelet patterns. If you search for "MashaKnots alpha" on YouTube the first video will be a tutorial on how to read this kind of pattern. If you go to the braceletbook website (not the app) this video will also be linked with any alpha pattern (that's what this kind of pattern is called).
