to everyone who was getting wonky edges, i segment knotted and didnt use the straight edge technique but i found that keeping my knots a little loose, especially at the triangles on the edges, helped prevent most of the waviness 🙂

Finally had the chance to make this pattern (which is now one of my favorites 😊). I started one, before my pictured one, and it was all wavy and bulgy in places - like most zigzag type patterns, so I stopped segment knotting (which I do all the time) and decided to knot this one row-by-row. Let me tell you it made ALL the difference. So if you're having problems with ACTUAL straight edges give row-by-row a try. As long as your knot tension is consistent it should remove any wonky edges you might experience 😊.
🥰 Another great pattern @sodapop! 💙💛

@angelle sorry I forgot what I was explaining. The aroace flag is orange, yellow, white, and two colors of blue just like this pattern

@angelle aro=aromantic ace=asexual. I’m aroace, which means that I’m aromantic and asexual

@zumotamekk this is kind of late, but when i was doing it, on mostly the edges i paid a lot of attention to how the knots moved and made tried to tie them to make them all sort of goin the same way if that makes sense.

How do you all do it looking so straight? I tried multiple times and it always ends up wavy 🙁

@ajaachubs You totally could! I personally found that it wasn’t necessary but if you feel like you should, then go for it!😄👍

do you recommend using the straight edges method?

@nounou987 For single colors that don't have a match on the opposite side, you'll have to use individual strings and fold/hook the end around another lone string from the opposite side with about a 3-4 inch overlap, line up those crossed/folded pairs in the center with the other long strings you're simply folding in half. Then you cover it up with knots to make the loop like normal. After the loop is secured, carefullly cut off the stray short ends so you can just continue the pattern. I like to leave the tail end a bit longer so after I've finished the pattern I can thread it through a needle and weave in underneath some other knots on the back so there's not a frayed end poking out at the top. 😊 Or instead of folding the single shorter strings inside the loop, you could just let them go straight across with the other longer strings but you'd have to be careful not to pull on that color too hard when making the first knots or you'll just yank it right out of the loop 😭 folding it makes it more secure. With practice, you might even be able to come up with a different or better solution! 😄
