@arts_craft the pattern has 29 base strings. The 28 you do regularly by folding 14 in half and for the one extra you use the shorter end of your first leading string.
@arts_craft for one loop you take 7 strings that are double the length you need fold them in half and make a regular loop. For the other half you take 7 strings double the length and fold them in half but you also include one end of the leading string in your loop. If you want to do it like sashaHam you just start knotting row by row after the loops.
