~Here are the colours I used (DMC unless stated otherwise): 3866 for the background, 413 for the outlines, 632 for the window, 3781 and 7 for the grey cat, 816 for the red and base strings, 580 for the green, 3726 for the lighter red in the tree pot, 152 off-brand for the peach pink, and I got the sparkly gold (for the ornaments) from AliExpress. If you're making this, I recommend you use a much lighter red and a slightly lighter green than what I chose because it doesn't contrast very well with the outline colour (you could also do black for the outline, but I was trying to match all colours to the original piece which has muted colours).
~I used triple base strings to get the most proportional final product. The base strings were originally cut to 21cm but I recommend longer. The final piece measures 93mm x 147mm (ONLY the knotted portions, not including ends)
~I did some backstitching on the left hanging ornament (the star) and some for the candle flame.
~I used thin black felt to cover the back.
~I'm a relatively quick knotter and this still took me about 38 hours, so you know what to expect.
~I made the dowel caps myself out of polymer clay. The dowel is 2mm in diameter.
~I amended the pattern a bit from my original design since I saw some errors/room for improvement. You can see the corrected areas circled in the image that I linked to at the bottom of my profile.
