Oh, and let air dry flat. TIPS, if the water gets dirty initially, empty that water and use a fresh water with woolite and soak again before drying. Do not dry in the sun. Keep it flat until dry. Hope this will get it cleaner! Good luck @lilybooLDS
Use a detergent, not a soap. I would recommend soaking in woolite or any detergent meant for delicates. Try not to rub the surface of your project too much so you won’t cause ‘pilling’ or making the fibers sticking out all fuzzy etc. While soaking, hold your tapestry out straight and force it up and down through the water. Don’t pull hard, but gently taught. Soak, force water through, soak, repeat. Rinse well, DONT WRING OUT. place flat on a towel and put another couple towels on top and press the excess water out
@lilybooLDS I've decided that my advice is terrible so either use @Kiwi_art 's idea or maybe wait for someone else to respond and see if you like that way of doing it better.
@lilybooLDS honestly my advice probably wouldn't be the most reliable because I have never made a wallhanging, but personally I believe that as long as the pattern looks good the ending won't really matter to anyone but if it matters to you then I'd definitely suggest taking someone else's advice.
@lilybooLDS I wash my knotted bracelets with a tiny bit of dawn soap, or hand soap, and I use warm water. I’ve never washed a wall hanging but I’d assume it’s pretty much the same I don’t think it’ll hurt the wood at all.
